Art Exhibition: Hearing the Whispers & Roars

Hearing the Whispers and Roars

Friday, Oct. 18 from 6:30-8:30pm at the Union Project in Pittsburgh

Crisis Center North will host its free 10th Annual Hearing the Whispers and Roars Art Exhibition on Friday, October 18 at 6:30 pm at the Union Project in Shadyside. Hearing the Whispers and Roars is an art exhibition designed to energize the community and raise awareness to the issues of Domestic Violence and Trauma.

CCN is committed to celebrating the healing qualities that art holds for survivors of domestic violence, and Whispers & Roars allows those survivors to display and sell the artwork they have created.

Survivors of domestic violence can have difficulty with many other aspects of their lives due to their experiences with trauma.  Art and creativity have the unique capability of rewiring brain patterns to mitigate the effects of trauma and promote healing on a deep level. CCN empowers victims to participate in various creative expression sessions, helping to facilitate and accelerate the healing of  brain trauma.

Throughout the 10 years of the Whispers and Roars event, clients have experienced and grown over time in their journey through healing, with some even continuing on to take college courses due to the skills that they have developed. Intending to expand CCN’s partnerships over the past three years, the organization is able to offer multiple mediums of artistic expression. Crisis Center North has partnered with Contemporary Crafts, the Glass Place, the Union Project, and Dots and Doodles, as well as hosting in-house group sessions.

For the second year in a row, CCN is proud to hold the exhibition at the Union Project, located at 801 N. Negley Ave. in Pittsburgh. The event is free for all in the community and we look forward to seeing you there!
